Muqata’a is a Ramallah-based producer and composer. He has announced the release of the new album. كَامِل مَنْقوص Kamil Manqus will be out on February 5th, 2021 via Simone Trabucchi’s Hundebiss Records. According to the press release, Heavily influenced by his Palestinian heritage, Kamil Manqus is Arabic for “whole imperfect” or “perfect imperfect,” a way of working for Muqata’a whose music seeks ways of listening that uses error not as mistakes but as possible breaks in an otherwise closed system.

The album surrounds the concept of Simya’, an ancient Arabic science of combining numbers and alphabets to communicate with the unseen, as the voices of his ancestors appear throughout the album. The result is Muqata’a’s best work to date as he combines sounds from live radio, drum machines, synths, and field recordings, the results range between harsh beats, abstract tones and glitch.
