Experimental bass producer Jade Cicada keeps it low key. His social media presence modest, but he lets the tunes do the talking. His 2019 EP Little Creatures delivers lucid trip-hop with a bruised third eye.
Abrasive are the bass lines, invigorating are the drums, and dreamy are the top-end synths floating over the head’s of listeners.
The title track “Little Creatures” speaks on the behalf of the EP fittingly with de-tuned, sideways melodies that carry listeners into a tripped-out, head nodding mind game. This luminous playground of synth stabs, and distorted sequences represent the new era of the trip hop sound.
