Sam Goku is the project of Munich based producer Robin Wang. His upbringing was Chinese for the most part. His parents moved to Germany in the early 90’s. Growing up with two different cultures, and mentalities, it’s those two contrasting influences we can hear back in the music.
“I often talk to people who, respectively, don’t understand the other side and talk badly about other customs and traditions. I’d love to bring to people the understanding, that behind the differences in behaviors and measures, there are often similar, if not the same, emotions and motivations. I believe we need to nurture our culture of understanding. Since I am not a political person, I try to transmit this modest message through my music.”
He has announced the release of the debut album called East Dimensional Riddims which will be out on May 7th via Atomnation. According to the press release, the 11 track record is a journey into his hugely characterful club sound complete with ambient and subtle use of instruments from his Chinese heritage.
