Chicago-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Sen Morimoto has officially announced the follow-up to his acclaimed 2023 album, Diagnosis. Titled Time Is on Your Side, the new project is scheduled for release on October 23 via Sooper, the artist’s own independent label. To mark the announcement, Morimoto has shared the lead single “Overthinker,” accompanied by a visual that finds the artist retreating into the woods.
In a statement regarding the creative process behind the new record, Morimoto reflected on his evolving relationship with the concept of time. “I’m not fighting time anymore. I treat it as an ingredient,” he explained. “Some of these songs only need a pinch—a couple of improvised takes. Others sat for years, like wine in a barrel, until they became equal parts of my past and future. My hope is that it could inspire the freedom to slow down.”
The upcoming LP highlights the collaborative spirit of Chicago’s vibrant music scene. Morimoto is joined on the record by a tight-knit group of local musicians, including Kaina Castillo, Ryan Person, Elijah Bradford, and Brok Mende, who contribute to the album’s expansive, genre-spanning sound.
