Bounce music icon Big Freedia has announced the upcoming release of a three-song EP, a collaborative project recorded with the late, visionary producer SOPHIE back in 2016. While the project currently lacks an official title or tracklist, fans can expect its arrival on June 19. The lead single, “Blaze That Ass,” is scheduled to drop on May 22—a track that has already gained a cult following through leaks and recordings of SOPHIE’s live DJ sets.

Reflecting on the collaboration, Big Freedia shared her sentiments in a press release: “Recording with SOPHIE is something I hold even closer to my heart now, especially after her passing. She was an artist who showed the world that living boldly is your greatest power. With this EP, I want to show the world how loved she was and still is!”

This release follows a productive period for both artists. Big Freedia’s most recent full-length project, the gospel-infused album Pressing Onward, was released in 2025. Meanwhile, the legacy of SOPHIE continues to resonate; last year marked the 10th anniversary of her seminal singles collection Product, which was celebrated with a new deluxe edition and the official release of “Sunscreen,” a fan-favorite collaboration featuring Liz.
