Tuesday is starting with a multi-dimensional blend of IDM, ambient, progressive house and … pop? Yeah, I know it may sound weird, but this gem is going to throw a lot of surprises your way.
Meet Henry Blaeser & CoastalDives and their release “Surface” (via Chilean label No Problema Tapes). The track is a follow-up to their 2020 work “Ghost II” and it is a truly dynamic journey, taking listeners from serene, oceanic ambience to a gripping climax, built off the brick-layering of IDM-influenced sounds; a chain reaction ignited by a startling rhythm change-up at the start.
And why I said pop? I really find the male harmony vocals quite on the pop/soft side of things compared to the punchiness of the composition overall. They definitely adds a special flare to “Surface”.
