Today, folk soul singer, songwriter, and classically trained guitarist Ruby Alexander has officially released her latest single, “All This Time Together.” The track follows a successful premiere on The Big Takeover and marks the artist’s first new music since 2024. As she prepares for a busy season of live performances and upcoming projects, this release serves as a heartfelt reintroduction to her evocative sound.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, Alexander describes it as a “love song for trying times.” She notes, “It is a song of reassurance; I am here, and you can rest, and you don’t need to explain yourself, and you don’t need to say anything at all. Some days might feel long, and we still have each other. It’s the idea that if we do see things fall apart, that’s less a measure of devastation and more a marker of how long we’ve had each other.”
Written in April 2025 within the walls of her Brooklyn apartment during her final semester at NYU’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music, the song quickly became a staple of her live sets. After debuting the track at a rehearsal, Alexander began closing her performances with it, finding that it resonates deeply with audiences on an emotional level.
The recording process was equally intimate. With the exception of the vocals, the track was captured in a single full take at The Bunker Studio in Williamsburg, engineered by GRAMMY-award-winning producer John Davis. The session featured Alexander’s band—a group of her closest friends—playing together in one room to capture the raw energy of the performance. Alexander later finalized the track by recording her lead and backing vocals, mixing the song alongside her partner and fellow artist, Drake Hunt, in Gowanus, Brooklyn.
