Leona Berlin is a new discovery in my book, but just in 2 tracks (today’s included), the up-and-coming German artist, singer and producer has covered a whole range of genres.
Following up her “Wrong Lane” (featuring Snoop Dogg), which I featured a few days ago, I want to tone things down with her soulful gem “Cage” from earlier this summer. The single feels like a slow-motion, kick-heavy confession where XXYYXX’s instrumentals meet Frank Ocean’s intimacy and Jhene Aiko’s smoothness.
My top priority is to be authentic without having to fit in a box. I would like to give an example of how authenticity is needed and demanded, especially in today’s media superficiality.
