Progressive country renegade Bryan Andrews marks America’s 250th anniversary with his new mixtape, Independence Day. The 8-track project continues a breakthrough year for the outspoken Carrollton, Missouri native, who has reached millions with his unapologetic brand of country storytelling that’s challenging what the genre can say and stand for. As he puts it, “History will be told, and it will be through art.”

Independence Day features two new tracks, “Home of the Chained” and “Backwoods Backwards,” plus recent viral hits “Are We Great Yet?”, “Yeehaw”, “Not See”, and “The Older I Get,” which previously topped Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales, Digital Song Sales, and Emerging Artists charts. A new official video for “Backwoods Backwards” also just dropped, where Bryan leans into the witty, unvarnished lyricism he’s become known for:

“I vote the same color as my collar / ‘Cause I know it ain’t the immigrant stealin’ my dollar / It’s the billionaire who profits on the bombs goin’ overseas / Words in red said ‘Love thy neighbor’ / Unless I guess you’re on your deathbed in labor / ‘Cause your life ain’t important as the one that you conceived.”

Alongside the project, Bryan also announces his Taking My Flag Back U.S. headline tour, kicking off on election day (Nov. 5) in Washington, DC, with support from Lou Ridley, before making stops across the country through December. Continuing his commitment to supporting meaningful causes, a portion of proceeds from the upcoming run will benefit a charity to be announced soon. The effort follows his ICE Out of My Country Damn Music Tour, which donated proceeds to non-profit organization Human Rights First to help protect immigrant and refugee rights. Tickets go on sale this Friday, July 10th at 10am local time at BryanAndrewsMusic.com.

Before pursuing music full-time, Bryan spent four and a half years working as a pipe welder, living the blue-collar life that now informs his music. Raised in a musical household, with his father a band teacher at his hometown high school and his mother a choir teacher, he grew up immersed in music from his early days. His current work brings those two worlds together, channeling his upbringing to create songs grounded in standing up for what’s right. That philosophy has resonated far beyond country music, helping him build an audience of more than 3.8 million TikTok followers and 1.4 million Instagram followers, while earning coverage from Rolling Stone, Billboard, NBC News, Don Lemon, Music Row, and many more.
