“Avocados” draws inspiration from Sherwyn’s inner-city upbringing and the nightlife which ultimately shapes the sound of King Monday. The shady dwellers, fake friends and stranger interactions are all addressed through Sherwyn’s newly found appreciation for spoken word. A lyrical tale of caution is juxtaposed by the playful, sample-driven instrumental which takes its inspiration from r&b / hiphop artists like Erykah Badu and MF Doom, while the title of the track is a reference from Marvel‘s “Daredevil” series.
