New Jersey native and Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter Ally Salort has unveiled her latest ballad, “Proof,” a bittersweet reflection on the irony of being valued only after moving on. The track captures the sting of watching someone finally realize what they lost once they see you with someone new, questioning why it took jealousy for them to recognize your worth in the first place. With aching vulnerability, Salort delivers the song’s emotional centerpiece, singing, “You had to see me with somebody new to see that I was something to you… Why do you need proof?” “Proof” is out now via Disruptor Records/RCA Records.
Salort is set to release a new EP later this year, Isn’t It Sweeter?, expanding the emotionally candid and vibrant world she has been crafting through her recent singles. Offering a glimpse into the EP, “Proof” arrives on the heels of “Housekeeping,” an upbeat yet thoughtful realization on choosing to let someone go while holding onto the hope that their feelings still linger, “Finish Line,” an exploration on the pressure to succeed and the standards we set for ourselves, and “I’ve Never Met Her,” a radiant anthem about outgrowing a past version of yourself. Across this new era, the artist’s lyricism and vocals reflect a blossoming sense of self-assurance.
The forthcoming project builds upon the foundation Salort laid with her debut EP last summer, Change of Plans, which featured tracks like “Tattoo (Selective Memory),” “Horror Movie,” “Before & After,” “Pretty Face,” “Swiss Army Knife,” and “Any Way I Can.” Since then, she has continued to grow her audience through an electrifying North American tour, most recently supporting internationally acclaimed artist Charlie Puth, marking another milestone in her rapidly growing career. In the past year, she has headlined shows in New York, Los Angeles, and a sold-out performance in London, while also delivering a magnetic set at Weekend Two of the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
With her EP on the horizon, stay tuned for more from Salort as she continues to share her most fully confident, realized, and authentic work yet.
