Oxford-based composer and producer Sebastian-Reynolds, also known for his work with SOLO Collective, has released a new EP called Athletics which is out now via Faith & Industry. He has shared a new video for the track “Final Push“. He explains: “My latest release, Athletics EP, was inspired by my life-long love of athletics and sport, particularly middle to long distance running. A couple of the tracks, Cheptegei and Four-minute mile, celebrate world record breaking runs by athletes at the top of their game, but I also wanted to celebrate amateur sport and the spirit of giving it a go.

I myself have been a fairly average club runner, firstly for Oxford City where I’m from, and more latterly Swindon Harrier, a defectors move for sure! One of the lads at the Harriers, Chez, has a YouTube channel for his go-pro filmed races, The Wing-It Runner. He filmed me at the Road Relays in Birmingham in September 2021, and I took a bit of audio from the recording to use for the track Final Push. I asked Chez’s permission to use some more footage to put together a video for the track, and thought it made sense to use the clips with me that helped to inspire the track in the first place. Thanks to Chez for being a force of nature and to Jordan and Jacek at Tentacle for their amazing work on the post-production and editing. I’ve always had a particular love of cross country racing, and hopefully this track and video evoke something of the altered states and chaotic aggression of the Final Push for home.
