Maya Shenfeld is a Berlin based composer and musician exploring the space between modes of musical production used in experimental, classical, and popular music. According to her bio, Her interests lie in the perception of time, the embodiment of the listening experience, harmony, orchestration, and counterpoint.
She has announced the release of the debut album called In Free Fall which will be out on January 28th, 2022 via Thrill Jockey Records. Featuring contributions from Kelly O’Donohue and James Ginzburg (Emptyset) and named after Hito Steyerl’s essay, In Free Fall captures Shenfeld’s own feelings of “free fall” both with regards to the current moment, and to her growth as a composer.
