Two years after the first full-length A Separation Of Being, Canadian producer, and composer Jay Crocker aka Joyfultalk has announced the release of a new album called Familiar Science which will be out on May 6th via Constellation Records.
According to the press release, JOYFULTALK’s 2022 LP, Familiar Science, somehow manages to sound equally alien and wild while departing completely from the sound of the last LP. Partnering with some of Calgary’s finest improvising musicians, Crocker shreds and reconstitutes their playing into something totally new, with roots equally in jazz and electronic music. It’s also the first JOYFULTALK record in ages to feature his fantastic guitar playing. Definitely for fans of Flying Lotus, Makaya McCraven, mid-70s Ornette.
