Emily Sprague is a California-based synthesist, songwriter, and sound designer, known also for her work with the band Florist. We introduced her in 2017 with the solo album Water Memory. In 2020, she’s back with a new EP called Hill, Flower, Fog.
She was invited by the team of Moog Music to work on a song; the result is “Chasing Light” which was composed using the Moog One polyphonic synthesizer.
“With instrumental music, I am still much more of a beginner than with songwriting. I’m trying to figure out right now how to say certain things without words but only with sonic environments… and that is a real challenge, but I love it” Sprague explains.
Check the short film inspired by the beauty of nature and the joy of connecting with one’s surroundings through sight and sound. According to the press release, To accompany Emily’s dreamy soundscapes, this piece (shot primarily with Super 8mm film) takes you inside the artist’s world—her home, the ocean, the mountains. It represents a day in the life of Emily, as she shared her favorite places with us, capturing them through the lens of a camera the same way we captured her adventure.
