CIVIC TV is the solo project of Toronto songwriter Lowell Sostomi. He has announced the signing with Flemish Eye and the release of the debut album called Black Moon which will be out on October 22nd. According to the press release, His debut record was self-produced largely DIY at his home studio during lockdown and succinctly captures the claustrophobic tone of our post-apocalyptic era. Having spent the past decade in the Toronto indie pop scene, organising experimental music nights and playing in bands such as Great Bloomers and touring with Wooden Sky, Sostomi used the lock down to experiment with sounds worlds away from anything he had done before: “I wanted to try out something that sounded uglier and darker, playing melodies I’ve never played before and singing in ways I have never sung before”.
