Orange and Mountains are the duo comprised of Italian musicians and producers Edoardo De Din and Lorenzo Pesci. Their collaborative partnership was born out of the intermingling of their individual musical visions and, interestingly, their scientific and technical backgrounds in natural sciences and engineering.
They have announced their first album called Drawers which will be out on April 16th via New York based label Rhodium Publishing. It is a conceptual project that centers around the theme ofthe visual and emotional content of dreams during and after sleep and features five tracks representing the nighttime dreams, with five counterparts—“diurnal” reworks—representing the awake phrase of recollection. Orange and Mountains remark, “The idea of “Drawers” stems from our long conversations about both our dreams and our fascination over the process of remembering them, which is as real as it is volatile. These songs represent our efforts to render five dreams into music, as well as the feeling of trying to recall them.”
We introduced them with the track “Gloomy Lights”; now they are back with a new excerpt called “Absorbed in a Point“. The artists describe the track with visual imagery: “Squeezing through a crevice. Springing over a chasm. Coming out of a cavern through an incredibly tiny gateway. At first, dreaming about the physically impossible is truly disorienting and distressing, but overcoming the obstacles brings relief. It is an enriching experience where we face and challenge our limits. Absorbed in a Point is our way of describing that intense sensation.”
