Julia Gjertsen is a Oslo-based pianist and composer. Following her 2019’s first full-lenght and the 2020’s collaboration with Nico Rosenberg, she has announced the release of a new album called Formations which will be out on January 28th via Moderna Records. According to the press release, The record presents a collection of 10 beautiful, texture filled ambient pieces where Julia weaves her signature stacks of piano & synth layers with electronic programming and the atmospheric stylings of Australian flautist Rowan Hamwood.
We have the pleasure to share the second excerpt called “Out of Square“. She explains: “It is a reflection of not fitting in, watching yourself fall out of the square you’ve tried to fit into. This track is also about change and growth – a growing plant, thought, relationship or feeling.”
