Fri Steel is a Norwegian multi-instrumentalist and producer. He has announced the release of a new album which will be out later this year adn features Mira Thiruchelvam (9 grader nord), Lars Horntveth (Jaga Jazzist) and Øystein Braut (Electric Eye) amongst others. “Migrapolis Blues” is the first excerpt.
He explains: “The way of creating instrumental music together with strong composers is very free, but also very strict. The method of establishing a strong fundament in a rif, and then creating structures on top of this scellot, can seem so effortless, and yet, it is not. We create space for others to take part in, and you never know how someone will fill the room. Migrapolis Blues, is an attempt to create musical space and variations while tapping into traditional structures at the same time”.
