Italian Berlin-based composer and sound artist Caterina Barbieri has announced the release of a new album called Spirit Exit which will be out on July 8th via his own label light-years. We already shared “Broken Melody” and “At Your Gamut”; “Terminal Clock” is the new excerpt.

According to the press release, For the first time, ‘Spirit Exit’ album adds strings, guitar and voice to the Barbieri’s modular synth we all know her for. Including her obsession for melodies, as existential metaphors formed through tensely spiraling arpeggios, like knots to untangle. ‘Spirit Exit’ is inspired by female mystics, philosophers and poets like St. Teresa D’Avila, Rosi Braidotti, Emily Dickinson, between posthuman and metaphysics. A time machine through inner-space, as vast as a universe and as intimate as a heartbeat, standing alone in its ecstatic intensity and cataclysmic emotional impact. Endless ascension, destination unknown, a newfound humanity. ‘Spirit Exit’ is Barbieri’s most profound work yet, growing as large as planets before cracking into atoms. A special kind of seance, an album so otherworldly and inexplicably moving it leaves even its ghosts in a stunned silence.
