Norwegian electronic duo Smerz—comprised of Catharina Stoltenberg and Henriette Motzfeldt—have officially announced their upcoming release, Easy EP. The six-track collection is scheduled to arrive on May 15 via the label Escho. To mark the announcement, the pair has shared the project’s lead single, “Spring Summer,” which is available to stream now.
Reflecting on the creative process behind the new material, the duo shared in a press statement: “At the tail end of finishing Big City Life last year, we made the song ‘Easy’ and from there went off on a tangent. Many of Big City Life’s songs are rooted in specific stories; this Easy EP presented itself in a more open-ended process—almost like a daily journal. It began as a snapshot of a moment, one that was about to become our spring last year, and was finished moving into spring of 2026.”
Easy EP is currently available for pre-save via the duo’s Bandcamp page. The tracklist suggests an experimental approach, featuring titles such as “Spring Summer 3 Beat” and “Somewhere 2,” which hint at thematic connections to other compositions on the record.
Smerz are currently touring across North America and Europe. This new EP follows their acclaimed 2025 sophomore album, Big City Life. The duo notably expanded the reach of that record last November by releasing Big City Life Edits, a collaborative project featuring remixes and guest contributions from a diverse array of artists, including Clairo, ML Buch, Astrid Sonne, Erika de Casier, MIKE, and They Are Gutting a Body of Water.
