XIII is the moniker for Italian composer Alessio Capovilla who we introduced with the collaborative album with Los Angeles artist Anna Holmer. With this project he examines the most tactile and digital reaches of his sound. Invrs Solaria is the new EP which is out now via C2C Festival label. Check the full streaming and read the full story below.

Across the four tracks that make up the “Invrs Solaria” EP, XIII explores sonic landscapes evocative of Siberian and Mongolian ritual music, Italian Renaissance drums, Indian and Asiatic horns. There are oneiric qualities to these electronic compositions and fresh organic sounds that the composer describes as “Multipolar by choice, ritual and fluid by need”.

XIII work focuses on sound modelling: imperfect sounds, unpunctual distortion and unsuitable atmospheres. It is a constantly evolving dialogue between ancient tools and new technologies through synthesis, computer music and field recording, cross beats and genres.

The EP tracklisting includes “A Wall With Hole”, “Breathe”, “Marante” and, as a bonus track, “Dot — Live Extract (20.02.2020)” that was performed for an Audio/Visual Installation by the artist Ken-Tonio Yamamoto commissioned by Stone Island, which premiered on 20.02.2020 in Milan, the last event with an audience involving C2C Festival before the pandemic.
