Horsegirl are a Chicago based trio comprised of Penelope Lowenstein (guitar, vocals), Nora Cheng (guitar, vocals), and Gigi Reece (drums). They have released the debut album called Versions of Modern Performance which is out now via Matador Records. It was recorded in Chicago with producer John Agnello (Kurt Vile, The Breeders, Dinosaur Jr.). According to the press release, Across it they play with texture, shape, and shade, revealing a natural affinity for improvisation, experimentation, and melody. The lyrics can be impressionistic and open-ended, but often strangely and unexpectedly poignant.
