19-year-old Nashville-based singer-songwriter Hudson Ingram has released his new single and music video, “Baby Just Be,” out now via Interscope Records and in partnership with an upcoming joint venture with Aaron Dessner. The release follows his single “Real Life” and further establishes Hudson as a focused young songwriter with a distinct point of view.
In “Baby Just Be,” Hudson Ingram draws inspiration from life on the road when moving away from his home in Texas to Nashville. The single navigates a rollercoaster of emotions: letting go of pride, catching a breath, laying low through rough patches and the twists of growing up. Through raw, heartfelt storytelling, Hudson is quietly on the fast track to stardom.
“‘Baby Just Be’ was one of the first songs I wrote after I left home and moved to Nashville, and it was the first of many me and one of my best friends and closest collaborators – Jack Schrepferman – made together. Sometimes songs just fall out of the air, and when you’re at the right place and time, they find you. We wrote this in between coffee breaks, on Jack’s floor, plucking on a guitar with a broken string, pulling the song from thin air. The song tells a very real story, and writing it down felt like memorializing that experience, and honoring what it took to get past it. Aaron took it and built a whole world around it… and he somehow made it feel more complete and expansive, without at all losing what it was at the core.
