Today, pop singer-songwriter Thomas Day brings the summer heat with “she got a thing about her,” an indie-fied bop that evokes the dizzy thrill of developing a new crush. The new single is out now via Arista Records and comes with a performance-style visualizer that finds Thomas oozing natural charisma and energy backed by his band.

“she got a thing about her” bounds out of the gate with a catchy guitar riff and Thomas’ voice already on ten: “I said, ‘Baby, how’d you f— with my head?’ / I don’t know what it is, but all I confess.” As the head-nodding rhythm kicks in with a chorus of swooning “oooohs,” the young artist sings about a girl who’s turned his world upside down, even if he doesn’t understand it yet: “She’s got a thing about her, the way she moves and she walks / She got a thing about her, the way her lips seem to talk / And I ain’t living without her, I love the things that she does.”

Between tours this year first supporting Joshua Bassett and later The Driver Era, Thomas has shared a series of singles that speak to his gift for capturing the lonesome lows and (more often lately) the fizzy highs of young love. Most recent was the tension-dripping “Beg,” which came with a playfully spicy video set in a ’70s-inspired love hotel. Before that came the euphorically upbeat “Sleep When We’re Dead” and, in January, the wintry folk-pop tune “Underwear.”

By now, Thomas’ devoted fans — nearly 7 million on TikTok alone — know to expect a direct line to his emotions with each new song. Last year, he shared Angel Boy, a powerful EP that traces a romantic arc from infatuation to desolation, and which features the earth-shaking piano ballad “Paper Cup” (watch the intimate visualizer HERE). That was after a pair of 2024 singles that examined the before and after, respectively, of a particularly difficult breakup: “Hearts Get Broken” and “Pretender,” which came with an appropriately dramatic music video.

All of that followed Thomas’ massive arrival in 2023, when he released his full-length Love Me for Another Day project, went on to rack up more than a quarter of a billion streams across platforms, and launched his first-ever headline tour across the US and UK — which sold out so quickly that he was upgraded to bigger venues throughout. Now, with more music to come and tour dates soon to be announced, Thomas Day is poised to make his biggest splash yet.
