Hidden Rivers is the project of Welsh sound artist and producer Welsh Huw Roberts, also known for his work with the ambient / modern-classical duo Nest. One year after Plainsight Lakes EP, he has announced the release of a new album called Golden Age of Dereliction which is out on December 17th via Serein.
He explains: “This is quite a different album to Where Moss Grows. I’ve tried to explore and incorporate ideas from dance and counterculture music I was listening to in the 90s and 00s with my usual slow motion, analogue feel. There are influences here from labels like Mo’Wax in its heyday, where a lot of styles like hiphop, breaks, house, techno and jungle all seemed to resonate as one and belong together. Back then it seemed like there wasn’t such a rigid distinction between one style and another, and you would get drum n bass guys doing house tracks and vice versa. I think part of the reason this appeals to me now is that I find it so hard to pin down one style and stick to it!”
Today we have the pleasure to premiere a new track called “Night Hammer“. Listen below.
