Italian violinist and composer Laura Masotto has announced the release of her sophomore album which follows 2019’s Fireflies and 2020’s collaboration with Philip G Anderson. We will be out on June 11th via 7K!. Pre-order is available here. According to the press release, The album contains several layers, which reflect the dualism which is contained in existence: life and death, water and fire, love and pain, present and past, the conflicting sense of human nature and its mystery.
We already shared “Blue Marble“; “Ithaki” is a new excerpt which features Hior Chronik. The official video was born from the idea of finding images from the 70s shot in Greece and, as done in my other videos, to reconstruct a story with recycled material. The video comes from an anonymous film found online by a group of Germans intent on a trip to the Mediterranean around 1975. The colors and mood are perfect for the hypnotic trend of the music.
Laura Masotto explains: ” “Ithaki“ was composed in collaboration with Hior Chronik and represents a journey, a sort of nostalgic dream. It is an immersive track in which the strings are blending with the piano and the electronic parts. Given the current situation that we are living due to the pandemic, the experience of traveling, discovering new places, immersing in different cultures represent a dimension of melancholia, almost like a remote experience which seems like a distant memory. The piece feels like the soundtrack of all the past adventures we had experienced and which we are now missing so much.”
