Minneapolis-based indie-rock band Yam Haus (Lars Pruitt, Jake Felstow, Zach Beinlich) unveil two dreamy new tracks, “Arrest Myself / Dollar Store Mansion” – out now via Big Loud Rock. Over a hazy production, “Arrest Myself” is a nostalgic tune that captures the beginning stages of falling in love. Meanwhile, “Dollar Store Mansion” offers a different kind of intimacy rooted in raw honesty and vulnerability.
On “Arrest Myself,” Pruitt shared, “Sonically, Arrest Myself is heavily influenced by my love for the band Cigarettes After Sex and Bruce Springsteen. I imagine this dark, smoky bar where a man falls in love for the first time in a way that’s more than just for a cheap thrill. My hope is that anyone who has fallen helplessly in love before hears it and is pulled back into that bittersweet nostalgic heart-bursting rush that they felt the first time they realized ‘Shit, I’m actually in love’.”
On the flip side, “Dollar Store Mansion” showcases another vulnerable point of view. “Dollar Store Mansion was a concept I couldn’t get out of my head for about 2 years. It’s about a character telling his lover they’re better off alone or with someone else,” explained Pruitt. “It’s a sad, self loathing, albeit heartfelt and well-intentioned warning to their lover. “Stay away, I’m bad news”. There’s an honesty in it that I find inspiring.”
“Arrest Myself / Dollar Store Mansion” are the latest additions to Yam Haus’ introspective collection of songs, following a string of singles released earlier this year: “One Bullet Left,” “Green Lights,” and “Misery Island / Spit In My Face.” Their debut EP Stupid and Famous (2023) leaned into guitar-driven grit and angsty resonance, cementing their reputation as a band unafraid to evolve and experiment. Now, as they move into 2025 and beyond, their message is clear: vulnerability isn’t weakness, but a source of strength and connection.
With over 23 million global streams, Yam Haus continue to carve their path in the music industry and connect with audiences worldwide. Their dedication to their live show has proven to be one of their greatest assets, as they’ve shared the stage with heavyweights such as The Killers, Flaming Lips, Death Cab for Cutie, and more – proving they can hold their own alongside renowned acts.
Next up, the indie-rock trio are set to headline Mercury Lounge in New York on October 10, MilkBoy in Philadelphia, PA on October 11, and DC9 in Washington, DC, on October 12. Tickets available HERE.
Stay tuned for much more from Yam Haus soon!
