Acclaimed songstress Whitney Whitney is back with a powerful vocal performance on her new single, “A Man Written By a Woman” via Atlantic Records. Produced by RISC (Pink Pantheress, KATSEYE, Mimi Webb) and Noah Conrad (Chappell Roan, Conan Gray, ROLE MODEL), and co-written with Cleo Tighe (Kehlani, ROSÉ, Charli xcx), the cinematic pop track heralds an exciting year ahead for the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter.
‘A Man Written By a Woman’ is one of my favorite songs on the project,” says Whitney Whitney. “One day I heard this phrase ‘a man written by a woman,’ and it was a moment of shock because I was like ‘wait, yes! This is what I need, but it doesn’t exist!’ I took it into the studio the next day, and Cleo and I just word-dumped feelings around this phenomenon while the producers RISC and Noah nerded away on sick sounds and chords. This one sticks out to me because of how real it sounds and how much time we spent on it. I wanted to go for a bit of ‘dad rock’ sound to mix with the realness of the lyrics. It took longer than the others as we rewrote the verses like six times and went back and forth on the tempo, too. Please enjoy!”
Whitney Whitney wrapped up her milestone 2025 with what proved her most popular single thus far, “Isabelle”. A relatable pop ode about hating your friend’s girlfriend, the track was declared a Billboard “Editor’s Pick,” raving, “Even if you’re in the throes of holiday music right now and reliving your Spotify Wrapped, Whitney Whitney’s new single ‘Isabelle’ demands to be heard before the end of the year…(‘Isabelle’) contains a storytelling panache and vocal yearning that will delight fans of Lana Del Rey and Chappell Roan, and immediately pegs Whitney Whitney as one to watch for 2026.”
Last year also saw Whitney Whitney unveil her inventive and inimitable approach to pop with her acclaimed debut EP, 1.1. The first in a series of evolving musical “worlds,” the project is highlighted by powerful singles such as “Touching You” and the emotive “Does The Narcissist Need A Kiss,” the latter of which earned applause from outlets like Ones To Watch, which lauded, “Warm and roaming, the piano flows freely, while Whitney’s vocals – left untouched by the echoes of reverb – sit so close to the listener, that it feels like a private performance.”
Named among PEOPLE’s “Talented Emerging Artists for Your Fall Playlist,” Whitney Whitney further celebrated 1.1 by taking to a rooftop in Downtown LA’s Arts District for FLOOD’s “Neighborhoods” series—delivering an impassioned performance of EP centerpieces “Touching You” and “Cicadas” backed by a full band including guitar, percussion, keys, and cello. Whitney Whitney continues to pave a path uniquely her own—spilling intimate thoughts, bare emotions, and unapologetic truths onto an organic pop canvas, twisting her unrestrained poetry throughout an orchestral sonic rollercoaster. Growing up between Connecticut and Manhattan, the Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter developed a creative foundation built upon a love for Elton John, Fiona Apple, Regina Spektor, 80s pop, classical string arrangements, and more. Between filling notebooks with ideas and poems, Whitney honed her voice through musical theater, cultivating a confident and charismatic presence. She quietly made waves with her original songs before teaming up with producer Justin Lucas, writing and recording numerous demos. Those tracks soon led to Whitney’s signing with Atlantic Records, garnering her industry attention in Variety and Billboard.
Now, with the exhilarating “A Man Written By a Woman” and more music to come, Whitney Whitney continues to bring her expansive and engaging pop vision to life, following her own creative path without compromise.
