Continuing to gain momentum, Atlanta-based genre-blurring band Penelope Road excitedly present their new The Diamond Street Sessions EP, out now via Warner Records. The three-track set includes the brand new single “So It Goes,” featuring horn arrangements by longtime Prince collaborator Michael Nelson. With its slick style and smooth spirit, its dreamy keys glow, and the soulful harmonies smolder over a slow and steady beat. The tune’s laidback verses catch fire on a chant able chorus lit up by loose guitar and boisterous horns, “Stuck in place with the world flying by,” culminating on the refrain, “So it goes, c’est la vie.”
The EP also boasts the recent fan favorite “Flowers (Carry Me Home)” and buzzing Warner debut single, “Out Tonight,” which earned widespread praise, Rolling Stone hailed it among “Songs You Need To Know,” and HITS Daily Double applauded it as a “burst of old-school melodic joy,” going on to proclaim, “Penelope Road makes the sort of lovingly crafted, organically soulful pop-rock you don’t hear much nowadays. with impeccable stacked harmonies and stellar musicianship.”
Due to overwhelming demand, their current summer headline tour has been extended through October, with tickets for the newly added dates on sale today at 10 AM local time. With more than 20K headline tickets sold this year alone, the almost entirely sold-out run continues to make stops at iconic venues throughout the US, including a sold-out show earlier this week at The Troubadour in Los Angeles, and Bowery Ballroom in New York City next month. The band will also play a run supporting Lake Street Dive and a handful of dates supporting Goose in amphitheaters this September. See the full list of dates below.
Penelope Road’s unique blend of ‘70s rock, funk, soul, and pop rooted in vocal harmonies has already helped them carve out a distinct identity in the music scene and an organic online following. The five-piece channels inspiration from contemporaries like Mk.gee and iconic artists like Steely Dan, Hall & Oates, and the Eagles, crafting a sound defined by their harmonies, musicality, and notoriously energetic live performances.
