Genre bending artist Oliver Tree is returning to his roots with the release of his latest single, “Joyride.” The upbeat and pulsating new track sees Tree relinquish all control, abandoning everything he knows about music theory and production to reconnect with his inner child and create something truly uninhibited. “Joyride” not only encourages listeners to embrace the chaos of life, but it offers a fresh take on the classic sound fans have come to love.
The new track comes on the heels of Tree’s most recent release, “Superhero” which marked his first official release in two years. Fans first got a taste of the electric track during Tree’s recent performance at the famous Red Rocks amphitheatre in Denver, Colorado, where he co-headlined with renowned rapper LOGIC. He followed up this live performance by announcing his highly anticipated 4th studio album, Love You Madly, Hate You Badly, set for release next year. The groundbreaking new album was completed over a period of two years, with recording taking place in 7 continents and 80 countries ranging from Africa to China to Afghanistan. Love You Madly, Hate You Badly is Tree’s most daring chapter yet, showcasing his musical prowess and ability to continually push boundaries.
“Joyride,” which was fully written and produced by Oliver and marks the second single off the upcoming album, was recorded in London, England. The track is a sonic melting pot, blending UK drum and bass inspirations with Boom bap rap flows in the verses and American rock vocals in the chorus, furthering the upcoming album’s message that music transcends all barriers, and is something that universally brings people together.
The track was released with a colorful and adrenaline filled music video that will have viewers mesmerized. Tree wrote and directed the music video in Latvia, on the longest day of the year which saw 19 total hours of sunlight. His two goals when creating the video were simple: create a high-octane explosion of chaos, and build a bridge between the West and Eastern Europe, connecting his Slavic roots and British heritage, both visually and sonically. Tree achieved both those goals, creating art that captures a very specific moment in his life — a moment where he finally connected the dots between where he was born and where his ancestors came from.
