A super cool festival happened here in Sofia a week ago – with names like Akua Naru, Lola Marsh – and Children of Zeus & Babé Sila – whom I actually know from Stereofox. And it was so nice to hear that the “Hungarian Queen of R&B” – as High Snobiety call her – released something new & utterly smooth.
“Fresh Pinks” fuses warm guitars and delicate horns, a super captivating drum groove, and her delightful & playful vocals which remind me of Jorja Smith in the verses. The song tells the story of the good memories of a past relationship. She elaborates:
I wrote ‘Fresh Pinks’ about a bygone love and the ability to see the beauty in love that didn’t work out. The title ‘Fresh Pinks’ refers to the rose metaphor I sing in the song. Even though flowers wilt and lose their colour, I like to remember them by their vibrant colours, and that is how I chose my faded romance to live in my heart.
