French, Paris based band Bank Myna have announced the release of the debut album called Volaverunt which will be out on February 25th via Araki records, A la dérive records, Stellar Frequencies, Duality records, Cold Dark Matter records.

According to the press release, Among a mystical voice and dronian soundscapes, Bank Myna’s music offers free structures within which the sounds are ample, deep and the play on textures permanent. Ecstatic vocals lead the way to slow movements before letting the sound space tear up under bass and guitar feedbacks.

Progressive, intense, torn between shadow and light, the Parisian ensemble likes to give breadth and power to its compositions in an abrasive and instinctive live act, oscillating from flutterings imposed by drone sounds to dazzling noise and heavy rock explosions.

They explain: “With our album VOLAVERUNT, we’ve wanted to explore new territories, freer structures, ample movements. It wasn’t obvious at first, we had been used to defining very strict structures, a bit in a pop or prog rock way. On this new record, we wanted to explore our “dronest” facet and just let the sounds flow and develop. Here are a few tracks that have come along with us on this process.”

Anna von Hausswolff – Deathbed. (Maud) To me, one of the best tracks ever written! I love how the musicians let the atmosphere slowly wander and settle in. It’s fluid, it’s intense and never boring although not much is happening at the beginning. I’m just taken away by the vibrations. When the voice finally enters it’s so pure and just magnificent, a touch of light in this somber track. Brilliant!

Anna is vocally a great influence to me!

Oiseaux-Tempête – He is afraid and so am I. We are huge fans of this band. On this record, we love how they incorporated massive electronic elements when they were joined by Mondkopf. G.W. Sok’s spoken words are also a fantastic addition to the music. He has a magnetic presence that you can feel through the record.

Low -Quorum. When we started writing rhythmic parts of our record without a drummer, we naturally turned to electronic/glitch/noise sounds. This track by Low is utterly amazing, we had never heard something like that before! When we were working on the album at some point we had some doubts about the direction we were heading as we were struggling with the rhythms. Listening to this song was proof for us that it is possible to obtain amazing rhythms without using any percussive element and made us keep on going and work harder in this direction. All in all, we included some real drums but we kept a noisy rhythmic foundation.

Jo Quail – Mandrel Cantus. We discovered Jo Quail at Dunk! Festival and we were frankly blown away. She has such a different approach to her instrument. It’s so innovative, unusual. The way she experiments really echoes our own musical longings!

SWANS – Cloud of Unknowing. What can we say? There’s no barrier in this record, the band really lets the atmosphere slowly settle in. They don’t care about formats, they don’t care about structures. It’s chaos but it doesn’t matter because it’s captivating and you can just drown in the music. And when it gets louder, it’s so intense, it’s like a slap in your face. We saw them live and it was so loud, we could actually “feel” the music. There was so much alchemy between the band members. Just fantastic!
