Daníel Hjálmtýsson is a Reykjavik born vocalist and multi-instrumentalist now based in the mountains of the Eastfjörds in Iceland. He has just shared this new song called “Tabula Rasa“, from the debut LP, due out in 2022 on Reykjavik Records, a small indie label in downtown Reykjavik run out of the record shop with the same name.
He explains: “The song is kind of a short story about getting lost in translation in the modern world of now. Coming in with a clean slate , yet floating around you feel your spirit being torn by all sorts of things around you (modern technology, human relationships and communication in the now, status of limbo due to a global pandemic, quarantine, anxiety etc.), so much so that you feel out of control and start thinking you might be better off just going with it and giving in, giving up even, letting go of control. Turning dissociated.”
It is mixed by Icelandic producer and engineer, Magnús Oder and mastered by Chilean/American Alain Johannes. The song was recorded by the band and Bjarni Þór Jensson in Iceland in 2021.
