British producer N.O. Moore is back with a new album called Lunar Sync which is out now via New York based label Orbit577. According to the press release, As an electronic musician, he’s long been drawn to the cyclical frequency of sound, wavering between unbroken tones and pulsating rhythms depending on the speed of a sonic wave. Each of the tracks on the album presents an exercise in this rhythm, a process that is presented explicitly on track 8, ‘ExDys.’ Electronic music, and the instruments that have enabled it, are material and continuous sites for innovation.
In this album, Moore draws from Sun Ra’s contributions to electronic sound, as well as his theories and philosophies, particularly his proclamation such that “we are now in the space age.” Therein, Moore concludes that electronic music itself is a direct appeal to the technologically-enabled modernity we live in, propping up the advancements in how we live by changing the very timbre of it. All 10 tracks on Lunar Sync were realized on a modular synth system.
