Legal counsel for Woods, West Palm Beach-based attorney Douglas Duncan, submitted the plea on his client’s behalf and formally requested a jury trial. In a procedural move, the defense also waived the arraignment hearing that had been previously scheduled for April 23, signaling a desire to move the case forward through the judicial system.

According to an arrest affidavit from the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, Woods reported that he was distracted by his mobile phone while attempting to adjust the radio in his Range Rover.
