Honey Revenge have never been interested in pretending they’ve got it all figured out. On their new single, “Trust Issues,” the latest offering from their forthcoming sophomore album Loving and Losing (out September 18 via Thriller Records), the Los Angeles duo leans into uncertainty with a song that feels as exhilarating as it does painfully relatable. Equal parts shimmering pop, punchy rock, and full volume catharsis, “Trust Issues” transforms spiraling self-doubt into the kind of chorus that demands to be screamed back by an entire room.
Built around bright, ’80s-inspired production, handclaps, stacked gang vocals, and one of the band’s most immediate hooks to date, “Trust Issues” is impossible not to move to. Underneath the vibrant surface, however, is something much heavier. Devin Papadol captures the exhausting feeling of second-guessing every decision, questioning your own instincts, and wondering how you lost confidence in the person you used to be.
“Not being able to trust others is debilitating, but what about not being able to trust yourself? I used to believe I could do anything I set my mind to, but over the course of the past two years my confidence has been challenged at every turn,” shares Papadol. “In my darkest hour, I didn’t feel like I could depend on my own judgement to make the most basic decisions. ‘Trust Issues’ delves into how I coped with that loss of trust.”
With each release, Honey Revenge has peeled back another layer of Loving and Losing. Tracks like “Run Your Mouth,” “Poison Apple Baby,” “Hot Commodity,” “Butterfly Effect,” and “Sunday Scaries” introduced different shades of confidence, chaos, vulnerability, and self-reflection while collectively surpassing 9 million streams. Together, they’ve revealed an album unafraid to embrace contradiction, pairing brutally honest songwriting with undeniable pop instincts and arena-sized hooks that refuse to leave your head.
Honey Revenge will celebrate the release of Loving and Losing before hitting the road this fall on a co-headline North American tour with Dead Poet Society, joined by HUNNY and Broadside, beginning October 23 in San Diego. The band will also appear at the final U.S. date of Vans Warped Tour in Orlando this November before setting sail on the END Cruise in January.
