The Sheila Divine have officially released a new music video for “Hurry Up,” the lead single from their highly anticipated forthcoming album, The Middle Ages, which is set for release on May 22. Directed by the band’s own guitarist, Will Claflin, the visual accompaniment offers a striking, conceptual look at the track’s themes.
The video transports the band into the heart of a surreal, dystopian game show. In this unsettling environment, contestants are forced to compete for mundane, everyday rewards, effectively reframing trivial prizes as high-stakes goals. What begins with a veneer of absurdity quickly descends into something far more complex, masterfully blurring the lines between humor, psychological tension, and genuine consequence.
Drawing tonal inspiration from modern satire and psychological horror, the video challenges the viewer to navigate a world where it is never quite clear whether to laugh or feel deeply uneasy. The cinematography, helmed by Quinten Brogan, captures this disquieting atmosphere with precision.
The production was a collaborative effort, with James Brockett and John “Graz” Graziano contributing to the creative process and appearing on screen. The cast is anchored by Gwyn Parylak, who delivers a chilling performance as the enigmatic host—a figure who feels simultaneously like a charismatic emcee and an ominous harbinger.
As the band prepares for the release of The Middle Ages, they are also gearing up for a series of live performances. These upcoming shows promise to integrate multimedia elements that complement the new material, alongside classic selections from the band’s extensive catalog.
