An Immersive Expansion of the KID A MNESIA Universe

After teasing its arrival in the California desert earlier this week, Radiohead has confirmed that its immersive KID A MNESIA experience will extend well beyond the confines of the Coachella festival. The band has announced that the installation is officially heading out on a North American tour, bringing its unique audiovisual landscape to fans in several major cities.

Motion Picture House featuring KID A MNESIA is a large-scale, multisensory installation. It is built around a new film that draws directly from the extensive artwork created by Thom Yorke and Stanley Donwood during the recording sessions for the band’s seminal albums, Kid A and Amnesiac. The visual experience is paired with a soundtrack constructed from the original multitrack recordings of those albums, effectively placing viewers inside a disorienting, narrative-driven environment. Yorke has described the project as a story “in which a Monster is trapped in a derelict museum of the lost & forgotten.”

A Physical Realization of a Digital Vision

This project serves as a physical evolution of the digital KID A MNESIA experience, which was originally released via Epic Games during the pandemic. While the digital version translated the band’s visual universe into a virtual space, Motion Picture House offers a tangible, fully immersive environment. Attendees can expect a custom six-point surround sound system, large-scale installations, and dedicated gallery spaces that showcase the original artwork from the era.

Following its debut in the purpose-built underground bunker at Coachella, the exhibition will roll out in select cities, including Brooklyn, Chicago, Mexico City, and San Francisco. Each engagement will offer timed entries, providing attendees with approximately 75 minutes of immersion, with additional time allotted to explore the surrounding exhibition space.
