MYMK is the project of Brasilian composer and sound artist Bruno Sres. According to the press release, he uses sonic fragments maintaining a close attention to textural detail, unfolding reflective electronics, melody and structure delivered through processed
instrumentation. One year after The Amputees, he’s back with a new album called Crack A Light.
According to the press release, it is a record of restrained electronic compositions, recorded in an intimate studio setting through a process of self-erected barriers, like an effort to create more hurdles and curb certain indulgent expressions that can come through uninvited. There was an idea of imbalance and constant rebalancing involved, as an attempt to focus creative attention.
In contrast to the individualized recording process, the project as a whole is one of collaboration. Preceded by single ‘A Gesture’ / ‘Like All Mornings’ that includes a video from visual artist Indira Dominici, the album also features the artwork of Italian photographer Jasmine Deporta, alluding to different emotions working together, and also clashing with each other. There’s a narrative quality to her photography, as though she’s looking for a specific atmosphere, an environment that can create something akin to a dream, or a memory.
