Vegeterians & Carnivores is the solo project of British guitarist and vocalist Simon Carbery. He has announced the release of the debut album called A Day of Rainbows which will be out on October 23rd. Pre-order is available here.
According to the press release, Working with over twenty singers and instrumentalists, arrangements include short instrumental pieces and longer, developed songs, mixing together contrasting instruments and sounds from folk, jazz, rock, World, and classical traditions. The album was recorded, mixed and co-produced by Nick Moorbath at Evolution Studios, Oxford, England.
Simon comments: “A Day of Rainbows loosely describes a very up and down, very emotional year, but on a wider level it’s about the up- and down-ness of life.”
“The songs are lyrics-driven. All but one was written on acoustic guitar, which to me makes them feel intimate and personal, even though the final arrangements are mostly quite dense.
