Los Angeles based trio TWIN XL return with their new album ‘How to Talk to Strangers’. It features the breakthrough single ‘Good’ which has claimed the coveted #1 spot on The New Alt playlist on Spotify.
MTV have affirmed ‘Good’ as a certified bop, and it has subsequently gone on to have 2 million streams in the US alone. The track is currently #27 on Billboard’s Alternative songs chart and it is also featured on Apple Music’s Alternative radio station.
‘Good’ is the perfect example of the band’s hallmark hybrid of indie and pop. It is hard to forget the chorus after just one listen and vocalist Cameron Walker-Wright certainly galvanises the melody even more. The result is a sexy, danceable aural treat, with even a bit of whistling included. It is a refreshing contribution musically, offering decent portions of pop melodies whilst still alluding to an indie crowd.
TWIN XLs seven-track album ‘How to Talk to Strangers’ showcases more of the alternative pop sound the band has become known for. A personal highlight is ‘Sunglasses’, with its synth-pop backbone that showcases a wink to a more eighties pop sound. The band have stated an admiration towards electro-pop groups like CHVRCHES and The Cure. The album also includes ‘Friends’ which features the same energetic hooks as ‘Good’ ‘How to Talk to Strangers’ is out now.
Later this month the band will head out on tour with The Maine. The dates are mostly for the US, nevertheless their diaries also include live dates for 2020. In February next year, the trio will support neo-soul pop band Fitz and The Tantrums. Fingers crossed for some European dates.
